2014 BSA Academic Classic

The Annual “BSA Classic” Golf Tournament is presented by the East Carolina Council. The East Carolina Council of the Boy Scouts of America serves 20 counties in Eastern North Carolina.

In conjunction with the East Carolina Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the first BSA Classic was held to reward academic excellence. The BSA Classic was initiated by Mike Clover of Carolina Telephone in 1991. The goal for this 23 year tradition has always been to recognize and support academic endeavors and to support the Boy Scouts of America. In the past, this has been done thorough career awareness and Learning for Life and Exploring program.

Since inception, the BSA Classic has awarded scholarship funds exceeding $600,000 and has provided another $660,000+ directly to the Boy Scouts of America for their career-awareness, Learning for Life and Exploring program. This year, a new approach to education will be pursued. June 2011, saw the completion of PotashCorp Eco Lodge at Camp Boddie. Half of the net proceeds to the 2014 event will provide the means to deliver programming to public school students by attending programs at Camp Boddie and taking program into the schools. PotashCorp of Aurora will join in as a partner this year in reaching out to their friends in support in the BSA.
