Mission

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Vision        

The vision of the East Carolina Council is to be the Beacon for Scouting in eastern North Carolina; recognized as a premier organization because of its appeal to youth from all diverse communities and the leadership excellence of the council’s adult volunteers and employees.  The council will be so highly visibly and effective in delivering cutting-edge programs and exciting fun adventures that inspire lives of character, leadership and service that organizations, families and communities will seek to provide financial and volunteer support.

Scout Oath

On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my Country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Scout Law

A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.


Council Goals

  1. Create an organizational structure that will support the growth of Scouting in the East Carolina Council.
  2. Build a financially sustainable funding model in the East Carolina Council.
  3. Drive awareness and interest in Scouting programs in the East Carolina Council through innovative and targeted communications that reach all generations.
  4. Create and enhance compelling activities and programs for youth and their families in the East Carolina Council.
  5. Plan for, develop, utilize, finance, and maintain the finest facilities in the Boy Scouts of America for use by the Scouts and families in the East Carolina Council.
  6. Recruit and retain Scouts and families that match the demographics of the communities in the East Carolina Council.

By the first day of each month, committees submit a progress update to the Vice President of Strategic Planning and the Scout Executive / CEO using the STRATEGIC PLAN STATUS REPORT (a fillable PDF).  Additional reports may be submitted as desired.
